MTV VMAs 2023- Shakira Thanks Her Sons For “Cheering Me Up” During New Life Chapter
Whenever, wherever—Shakira continues to forge her musical legacy.
The "Hips Don't Lie" singer was honored at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards with the Video Vanguard Award, making her the first South American artist to receive the career accolade. (See the complete list of winners here.)
Taking to the stage in a blush pink outfit, Shakira thanked her collaborators and her record label, as well as her two sons Milan, 10 and Sasha, 8.
"I want to thank my parents and my kids, Milan and Sasha, who are here," she said onstage. "Thank you so much for cheering me up and making me feel like mama can do it all. Especially I want to share this award with my fans who always, always support me through thick and thin. Thank you so much for being my army and helping me fight all my battles."
The top honor marks Shakira's fierce return to the VMAs for the first time in 17 years. It also comes amid a career renaissance for the 46-year-old, who has released emotional new songs since her June 2022 split with Gerard Piqué.

"I thought this story was two guys conned everybody, they're talentless frauds," director Luke Korem, whose new documentary Milli Vanilli unpacks how Fabrice "Fab" Morvan and Rob Pilatus ended up at the center of one of the biggest music scandals of all time, told E! News' Francesca Amiker in an exclusive interview.
But then Korem watched a video on YouTube of Morvan sharing his story at The Moth in New York, and was struck by how calmly the artist spoke about what happened.

Suzanne Somers Dead at 76 After Breast Cancer Battle
The Hollywood community is mourning the death of Suzanne Somers.
On Oct. 15, one day before her 77th birthday, the beloved Three's Company actress passed away "peacefully at her home," her publicist R. Couri Hay confirmed on behalf of her family.
"She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years," Hay said in a statement to E! News. "Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly. "
A private family burial for the Golden Globe nominee will take place this week, while a memorial will follow next month.

"Our family has a new arrival…" Cowell captioned the Jan. 11 Instagram post, which features two photos of him holding the unbelievably cute German Shepherd pup. "Her name is Pebbles."
