Families Provide $36 Billion in Pediatric Home Health Annually

January 02, 2017
Pediatric home health in the United States is a vast market. Families provide about 1.5 billion hours of care for their children each year, which would be the equivalent of about 35.7 billion dollars if replaced with professional home health care, according to recent data. This article presents the findings of a study conducted by researchers from USC, Boston Children's Hospital, and Rand Corp., in which they used data from the 2009-2010 National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs (NS-CSHCN) to determine the economic and labor tolls that caring for young loved ones with special health care needs can have on American families.
